Hair Loss Among Women

FACT: Hair Loss can be gradual and undetected, as one assumes that they are just experiencing natural shedding.

However, when the hair in the comb increases and a woman begins to see hair on the bathroom floor, she starts to worry even to the point of panic.

  • Is this the first stage of baldness?
  • How much time do I have left?
  • Is there anything I can do?

FACT: Some believe that the causes are genetically linked, but this is not always the case.

I have conducted research on hair loss in women, and what I found was that many experts misdiagnose many cases of Alopecia (baldness) as genetically linked.

  • Some women suffering from hair loss were told that there was very little that could be done to stop the hair from coming out and that there was very little chance for re-growth.
  • This is not always the case especially if there is no scar tissue present.
  • One of the most disturbing things that I found was that many women were told that they should just forget this and let nature take its course.

FACT: Hair loss among women is of epidemic proportions.

At this point, do something! However, Do NOT Panic!

When hair loss increases the fear of going bald increases to increase as well. According to the American Academy of Dermatology some 30 million women in the United States are affected. The age of women losing hair will vary. I have worked with patients as young as 2 years and as old as 92 years. No matter what your age, there is hope!  In many cases hair loss, especially among African Americans, is not caused by genetics but by poor habits over time, which can be reversed.
